Things people ask

Is Wapas free?

Yes, completely. There is no fee to post, to search, or to claim an item. Wapas never handles money, and we would rather you didn't either — a genuine finder does not ask for payment.

Will people see my phone number?

No. Your number verifies you and nothing else. It never appears on a post, a profile, or a search result. It is shared with exactly one person, only after you have read their claim and approved it yourself.

How do I know someone isn't lying to claim my item?

When you post, you set a question only the true owner could answer — what was in the front pocket, which sticker is on the lid. Anyone claiming has to answer it, and you see their answer before deciding. If it feels guessed, you can ask for more detail rather than accepting or rejecting outright.

What is the handover code for?

It proves the item actually changed hands. When a claim is accepted, a six-digit code is generated. The person handing the item over reads it out; the person receiving it types it into their app. Neither can complete it alone, so a reunion is only recorded when two people are genuinely standing together.

Does Wapas show my exact location?

Never. You pin a point on the map so distances can be calculated, but what other people see is the area you describe in your own words. Your precise coordinates are not published anywhere.

Do I have to offer a reward?

No, and most people don't. Wapas is built on the assumption that returning something is worth doing on its own. If anyone demands money to give your item back, report them.

What if nobody has posted my item yet?

Post it as lost anyway. Wapas keeps watching — the moment someone nearby posts a matching found item, you both get a notification. You don't have to keep checking.

Which phones does it work on?

Any of them. Wapas runs in the browser on Android, iPhone and desktop, and installs to your home screen like a normal app. The Android app wraps the same thing, so everything stays in sync.
